EARLY MORNING SHIFTS Customer Assistant - Roberts Springfield

KEY JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the prompt, safe, courteous and efficient dispensing of fuels and shop goods to service station customers. The handling of cash, cheques, credit cards and credit transactions accurately and in a responsible manner.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure good customer relations at all times and to be courteous, friendly and helpful to the customer at all times.
  • Activate, maintain and control the petrol pump console, advising customers by use of the tannoy if necessary.
  • Regularly check operation of equipment, advising management immediately of malfunctions.
  • Collect payments for fuel and shop goods by both cash and credit transactions, issuing receipts as required.
  • Ensure all fuel is paid for and Customers are asked if they have had any fuel at the pay point.
  • Ensure security of monies at all times & ensure that cash in excess of the till ‘safe drop’ limit is placed in canisters/bags and put immediately into the safe.
  • Ensure compliance of oneself and customers with the Petroleum Licence, Health & Safety at Work Act 1971 and other relevant regulations.
  • Ensure forecourt, car wash, stores and shop are kept tidy and sales items well presented.
  • For sites with bakeries/hot cabinets – these must be kept stocked at appropriate times, at the correct temperatures and cleaned daily.
  • Ovens must be cleaned regularly using the correct products and oven gloves must be used when baking.
  • Ensure merchandise on the shelves and displays are always topped up from stock and dates rotated.
  • Advise customers on product uses and limitations, seeking technical advice as required.
  • Open up and close down forecourt area as required, punctually.
  • Staff should arrive on site to check till float etc at least 5 minutes before shift start.
  • Complete cashing-up procedures at end of shift.
  • Ensure the shop & customer toilet is kept clean & tidy at all times and Cleaning Rotas completed.
  • Attend any training courses organised by the company in relation to your job.
  • Learn and understand product details and their application.
  • Maximise sales in the shop at all times and assist with any promotions, i.e. handing out vouchers and leaflets.
  • Receive goods delivered to the station, including fuel deliveries.
  • Treat in the strictest confidence any information received concerning the company's policies, sales or trade figures.
  • Comply with all procedures in Staff Toolkit and Security Guide for Cashiers.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Display and control return of daily newspapers where applicable.
  • Take pump or tank readings as requested by the Manager.

WORK CONTEXT

The employee has full authority to refuse sale of petrol or accessories for reasons of safety or security. The post is based at “All Sites”. Shifts are as defined by the Manager, but can only be within the Site Operating Time. Uniforms will be supplied but must be kept in good condition by the employee, and must be worn at all times when on duty including name badge.

DUTIES/NOTES

The employee may be asked at the discretion of the employer to carry out tasks, which may not normally be covered under the Job Description, but would not be of a nature that would be unreasonable to ask of the employee. Although the position is based at the above named site, you may be required to work at or transfer to another branch at any given time during your employment, with shifts being adjusted accordingly.

Site Supervisor - Roberts West

KEY JOB PURPOSE

  • To provide prompt, courteous and efficient customer service
  • Deputise for the Site Manager in their absence
  • To handle cash, cheques, credit cards and credit transactions accurately and responsibly
  • Carry out ad-hoc tasks at the request of the Site Manager

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure high levels of customer service is achieved and maintained
  • Assist the site manager in planning, co-ordinating and organising the operations of the forecourt.
  • Supervision of employees within their team to ensure the forecourt is adequately manned and to work with the Operations Manager to ensure current staffing practices meet with current employment laws.
  • Work with the Site Manager to determine products and services to be sold, ensuring adequate levels of stock are maintained and stock taking policies are followed at all times. Also to ensure stock is displayed in a way that will be inviting to the customer.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed in regard to the management and collection of cash. This includes ensuring security of monies and making sure that the cash in excess of the till ‘safe drop’ limit is placed in canisters/bags and put immediately into the safe.
  • Maintain the site to ensure it meets with Health & Safety requirements and that it is inviting to potential consumers and that any hazards are reported immediately to the Operations Manager so that they can be dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance of oneself and customers with Hygiene Standards, Trading Standards, the Employment Law, the Petroleum Licence, Health & Safety at work act, and other regulations. This includes filling out the relevant log and reporting any incidents or accidents to the Site Manager.

  • Comply with The Company’s’ Policies and Procedures and ensure all employees adhere to them, making sure new recruits have undergone the necessary training in this area and that they have reached the standard of knowledge required to carry out the job. This includes ensuring employees have carried out the ‘Competent Person’ training for fuel deliveries and the paperwork is kept up to date and available.
  • To regularly check the operation of equipment, advising the Site Manager immediately of any malfunctions
  • Manage and constantly seek to increase the performance of the forecourt, ensuring a high level of service to customers at all times and that goods are well presented, and shelves stocked at all times.
  • Carry out regular stock takes in accordance with the company policy, investigating any discrepancies. In addition, manage the delivery of all stock to ensure it is accounted for correctly.
  • Any other tasks at the request of the Site Manager.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 3 years experience in a similar supervisory / management role.
  • Team player.
  • Management skills to organise and motivate the employees within the team, with the ability to delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • A practical approach to human resource management to enable appropriate policies and procedures to be followed adequately
  • Organisational skills of the highest order in order to dealing with a busy and dynamic work environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
