Roberts and Jersey Drivers Rally next generation of Motor enthusiasts
8 Rally Drivers will be visiting 15 Jersey Schools on Tuesday and Wednesday prior to the Robert’s Jersey Rally taking place on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th October.
James Russell, James Ollivro & Jeremy Baudains, Mark Follain, Ed and Sue Fossey, Kevin Rault and Darryl Morris have all given up their time to take their fantastic Rally cars out to schools across the Island to inspire the next generation of drivers and navigators and educate students about the Sport of Rallying.
Beaulieu, Highlands, La Moye, JC Prep, Victoria College Prep, Mont A L’Abbe, St Martin’s, Le Quennevais, Le Rocquier, De La Salle, Grainville, St George’s, St Michael’s, St Lawrence, Trinity will all be able to hear the roar of a Rally Car engine and talk to the drivers about the Rally itself.
‘Last year Kevin Rault and Darryl Morris visited Grouville, Vic Prep, Trinity and St George’s and created much excitement so we are thrilled so many schools have taken up the opportunity to meet the Drivers, see the cars and learn more about this fantastic community event’ commented Ricky Davey, MD, Roberts Garage and Rally Sponsor. ‘On behalf of Roberts Garages and all the schools I would like to thank all the Drivers for giving up their time in pre-Rally week. We much appreciate it as we know how much the students enjoy hearing all about the Roberts Jersey Rally whilst seeing and hearing the cars!’
‘It is a privilege to have the opportunity to visit not one but two of my schools. I attended St Lawrence Primary School and Victoria College so it is awesome to be able to go back and hopefully introduce another generation of drivers, navigators and marshals to this brilliant sport,’ explained Ed Fossey, Multiple National Rally Champion.
Quote from Head of Vic Prep to follow.
80 drivers will compete in the 2019 Rally so it is a super opportunity that some of them have the chance to visit so many schools and share their Rally knowledge and enthusiasm. We hope to see lots of families spectating again this year.
